THE KINSE AÑOS STORY
Destileria Limtuaco, a 100% Filipino-owned corporation
is the oldest distillery operating in the Philippines. Established in
1852, it has been an industry leader for over four generations and has
consistently earned world-wide recognition for its various liquor products.
In early February of this year, Destileria Limtuaco launched an advertising
campaign for a Napoleon 15 years old brandy currently being sold in the
market. This Napoleon Brandy variant is also known as "Napoleon Kinse
Años". The Advertising Board of the Philippines issued a Clearance
for Airing Television/Cinema & Radio(No. 2004-5612) for our radio commercial on February
2, 2004 and the media plan was followed.
Then, to our surprise, controversy engulfed our company!
Gabriela, led by their president Liza-Maza called the ad "offensive to
women and girls". Other personalities jumped on the bandwagon and the
whole situation was blown way out of proportion. We are therefore taking
this opportunity to show everyone our company's side in this ridiculous
situation. We hope you're able to make a fair judgement of our ad.
